Early Explorations (1981-1984)

These painting are from the ages of 15-18. Although I was passionate about drawing from about the age of 3, I only started painting at 15, as a much hated homework assignment from an art teacher. By the end of that painting I was hooked. That first painting was a house in a storm. These early paintings are naive but explorative and still passionate, constantly swapping styles as I grasped to learn what I could. At first my environment and influence was small country town sheltered, but when I received lessons from a teacher who was immersed in the knowledge of the old masters, I began to slowly widen my explorations. These images are low quality as they are taken from old photographs.

One Response to Early Explorations (1981-1984)

  1. Sandra Broman says:

I particularly like ”nextdoor”. You have a great ability to capture the right light, even from so early on. Interesting to see the development of your work as presented here.
